Through our work with New Beginnings\, we’re helping kids and their families access fresh\, nutritious produce in a neighborhood where fresh food can be hard to find. \nWhat will volunteers do?\nHelp the kids tend their garden\, dig into fun garden and nature activities\, and discover what’s growing. There’s plenty to explore together! \nWhat should volunteers bring or wear?\nBring your enthusiasm and a smile. A good vegetable pun is welcome\, but not required. \nWhat should volunteers know about the location?\nPark in the front lot\, then walk around the building to the back entrance. Join us at Blackwater Rising’s Showcase table for a festive day featuring art and food vendors\, nonprofit organizations\, live music\, and dance. \nWhat will volunteers do?\nHelp us spread the word and share the harvest! You’ll chat with festivalgoers about our programs and hand out free produce from our gardens. Turns out\, free veggies are a pretty good conversation starter. \nWhat will volunteers need to bring or wear?\nDress for a day outdoors\, and bring whatever keeps you comfortable. Festival flair is entirely up to you. \nWhat should volunteers know about the location?\nOur exact spot is still TBD. We’ll let you know where to find us as soon as we have the details!
